David S. Honda Elected President, Fernando Awards Foundation, Inc.
Fernando Awards Foundation awards people from the San Fernando Valley who have volunteered in the community over their lifetime

The Fernando Award Foundation, Inc. has recently announced its 2015 Board of Directors, to be led by President David S. Honda, President, 51st District Agricultural Association (San Fernando Valley Fair). Honda is also Chairman, U.S. Minority Business Development Agency, Department of Commerce. He is the Recipient of the 2009 Fernando Award, the highest award for volunteerism in the San Fernando Valley.
Celebrating its 57th year, the Fernando Award Foundation honors community leaders who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, over a lifetime, in volunteerism and civic accomplishment in the San Fernando Valley. Membership in the organization is open to service and charitable organizations located in the San Fernando Valley.
In 2015, the Fernando Award Foundation plans to promote and increase volunteerism in the Valley, provide a resource to network local non-profit organizations, and host the annual preeminent San Fernando Valley recognition gala dinner event that recognizes and honores a lifetime of volunteerism.

“This year we plan a revised governance to reflect our past recipients and who they were,” says David Honda. “We will move forward from where we are presently, and educate, empower and entrust our future to a new generation of leaders for the responsibilities of civic involvement, cultural diversity, and the economics of environmental earth ethics.”
In addition to David Honda, the 2015 Board of Directors includes: Vice-President Marilou Cheung, Kaiser Foundations Hospitals; Vice-President Richard Leyden, Leyden and Associates; Vice-President and Secretary Patti Jo Wolfson, New Directions For Youth; and Treasurer Tom Soule, Tom Soule, CPA. Deborah Sable, Corefit, will handle events for the year.

Martin Cooper, Cooper Communications, Inc., the 2014 Fernando Award Recipient, joins the following members of the Board of Directors: Dana Bartholomew, Nancy Cartwright, Marianne Jocz, Ronna Lubash, Art Pfefferman, Gloria Pollack, Joel Simon, Gary Thomas and MC Townsend.
The annual Fernando Awards Dinner will be held on Saturday, September 26th at the Valley Performing Arts Center on the campus of California State University Northridge (CSUN). Sponsors for the annual dinner include: The Los Angeles Daily News, California State University Northridge (CSUN), Time Warner Cable, and Galpin Motors.
