The Diary of Anne Frank at Calabasas High School
The teenage Holocaust victim writings about the challenges of hiding from Nazis comes to life in the Tony and Pulitzer award winning play
Calabasas High School will present “The Diary of Anne Frank”, the play adapted from Anne Frank’s original diaries. Shows take place November 17 - 20 at 7pm and November 21 at 1pm and 7pm. Tickets are available at
Anne Frank is the single most recognizable Holocaust victim in history. For two years during World War II, Anne and her family hid from Nazis in a small apartment whose entrance was concealed behind abookcase in an Amsterdam office. The power of the teenager’s uncensored descriptions of her difficulties faced while in hiding have engaged over 31 readers worldwide. The people in Annes’s diaries come to life on stage as their clos conditions bring ou the pettiness and selfishness in some, and the caring and generosity in others.

The production ties in with the study of the Holocaust in history and English classes in high schools throughout Southern California.
Calabasas High School has a renowned theater department which serves as a magnet for many of the most talented students in the West Valley. Its director Bill Garrett was recently honored as a Los Angeles Teacher of the Year.
