
This form of yoga is among those that help to balance the autonomic nervous system. This is done by placing the body in comfortable/restorative positions that are held for 3-5 minutes, allowing the muscles to soften and tension to release. This along with focus on the breath, allows calming of the nervous system and quieting of the mind. A combination of bolsters, blankets, and blocks are used for this practice.
