The pressure on parents to “get it right” is enormous. At first we seek the right teacher and the right friends from the right pre-school. We want to provide discipline, and nurture creativity. We want them to learn from their mistakes, and yet soften the blows that come from the hard knocks of life. We want them to know they are loved, but also that there are limits. We think we’re off to a great start, only to learn that we might need to course-correct. It’s all about them, and then again it’s not.
