(Calabasas, CA) – June 29, 2015- The Leonis Adobe Association is pleased to announce that the “Passport 2 History” program was awarded the “California Image Award” by the Native Daughters of the Golden West. The award is given annually to organizations that present California in a positive image. Leonis Adobe’s Executive Director, Diane Ramadan, received the award on June 18, 2015 at the NDGW’s 2015 Grand Parlor Annual Meeting in Burlingame, CA.

“Created and designed by Leonis Adobe, the “Passport 2 History” program guides visitors to 86 historical and cultural venues in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Kern, Orange and San Luis Obispo Counties”, explains Diane Ramadan. The passport book contains maps, descriptions and photos of each site, so that visitors and residents of California can enjoy and learn about the wide range of museums and cultural centers in the area. Venues include children’s and fine arts museums, native cultural centers, automobile, aviation, railroad and maritime museums, and historic homes, ranchos, and agricultural sites.

Participants begin their journey by purchasing a passport booklet for $5.00 at Leonis Adobe Museum, 23537 Calabasas Road, Calabasas. As visitors tour the various venues, they receive authorized seals in their “Passport 2 History” booklet. Prizes are awarded in accordance with the number of sites visited. Each page of the passport booklet describes the venue and recommends nearby places to eat, shop, or visit. Some sites offer special benefits and gifts.

Every participant comes away with a deeper love and understanding of our past and the rich history of Central & Southern California. The more historical sites you experience, the greater your knowledge and understanding of the diverse cultures that make up Southern California’s rich heritage.
