Local Student Finalist In Nationwide Scholarship Contest

CALABASAS, CA – A college student from Calabasas is one of nine finalists in a nationwide scholarship contest sponsored by Apartment Guide, but she needs your help to win.

Two winners will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship to help pay for housing, books or tuition, with 50 percent of the final vote determined by popular vote, the press release said. Grace Papish wrote an essay on the topic of "what makes a home a home" for a shot at being a finalist – each of the finalists were chosen by the editorial team at Apartment Guide.

"What is home when there's no home to come back to?" Papish asks in her submission video as footage of fires is seen on screen.

"Home is a place where a community comes to celebrate. Home is a conversation with an old friend. Or, perhaps, snuggles with a furry one," she continues. "Home is where you feel safe."
