Press release from the City of Calabasas:

July 10 2020

It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through the month of July. Despite
the pandemic and all its problems, 2020 seems to be flying by. Before we know it,
we will be discussing what will be of Halloween and what the holiday season will
look like. Like you, I know many people who would rather be finished with 2020
as soon as possible.

So, what can we do to get through this pandemic and ensure that the State or County
does not enforce another stay at home order as our numbers continue to rise? First
off, we all need to wear a face covering when you are around non-household family
members. That is the rule in the State of California. Everyone needs to take it
with them when you leave home. If you are outdoors and nobody else is in sight,
you do not need to wear it. But if you cannot stay six feet from others you need
to wear a mask.

Also it is important to avoid what are known as the Three C's:

Remember, many people with COVID do not show any symptoms early on. We have worked
so hard to keep our community safe and together we need to work together to ensure
that we remain on the right path. We want to make sure that our businesses can
remain open and our children can go back to school.

There are things we can do to get through this pandemic that appeal to our charitable
side. Angelenos in Action is a voluntary public health survey that could help slow
the spread of the virus. You sign up for a weekly text survey, and help public health
experts track the virus in real time.To sign up, text @PROTECT to 35134.

We also want to help others who may be struggling. If you know of a senior who needs
food assistance, get in touch with the Great Plates Delivered program. Eligible
seniors can receive three nutritious meals delivered each day. The program not only
helps at-risk seniors, but also the restaurants that provide the meals. You can
call 211 to learn more about it.

You can also help the environment this weekend by safely getting rid of that old
paint and motor oil you may have buried deep in your garage. It is time for our
Water-based Paint and Used Oil Round-up event to resume. You can drop off your
items Saturday from 10a-2p at Calabasas City Hall. Go to www.cityofcalabasas.com
for details.

NEXT Saturday, there will be a similar event - the much-anticipated return of our
E-Waste collection events. Normally, we hold these on the first and third Saturdays
of each month, but the pandemic has canceled them lately. The next event will be
Saturday July 18th from 10a-3p in the parking lot of the El Camino Shopping Center
on Mulholland.

In addition, on August 15th, we will be working with the Sheriff's Department to
host a Community shredding event. If you have been doing a lot of cleaning and
"purging" your old documents to pass the time while at home during the pandemic,
this will be the event for you. We hope to have details soon. Check the City's
website and social media for details, when available.

Have a great safe weekend.
Alicia
