Motorcyclist Killed In Calabasas Thursday After Hitting Pole
37-year-old Tedros Ayalneh Amare from Hawthorne died last night after hitting a pole on Las Virgenes Canyon Road.

CALABASAS — A 37-year-old motorcyclist from Hawthorne was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a metal pole in Calabasas, authorities said Friday morning.
The rider was going southbound on Las Virgenes Road, just south of Las Virgenes Canyon Road, about 7:15 p.m. Thursday, at an unsafe speed when he lost control of his 2020 BMW motorcycle, veered across the northbound lane and onto the shoulder of the road and crashed into a metal pole, according to Officer R. Rowe of the California Highway Patrol.
The rider, identified as Tedros Ayalneh Amare, was thrown from the motorcycle, which was propelled back into the northbound lane of traffic and struck another vehicle, Rowe said.

Amare was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, Rowe said. The driver of the vehicle struck by the motorcycle was not injured.
Alcohol or drugs were not immediately considered factors in the crash, but an investigation into the accident was ongoing, Rowe said.

Las Virgenes Road was shut down for an investigation about 7:30 p.m., then reopened at 10:20 p.m.
