Diamonds are a burglar's best friend

More than $100,000 in jewelry was stolen from a home on the 5500 block of Newcastle Lane while the homeowner was out of town.

The victim believes the burglar could have been a contractor she hired to do some work on her home.

She specifically told the contractor not to visit the house while she was gone.

Upon returning, the victim noticed that the flooring job on her house was done, leading her to believe that the contractor had stopped by.

The victim had placed the jewelry in a jewelry box and placed it on top of a counter in the master bathroom.

An employee who opened the studio June 26 was the first to notice that the cash box was missing.
