Power Outage Affects More Than 11,000 Residents Near Calabasas

A power outage on Wednesday night was caused by an equipment failure, not the heat.

CALABASAS, CA — A power outage on Wednesday affected more than 11,000 people near Calabasas, Southern California Edison said.

The outage started around 8 p.m., and all power is restored now. SCE identified the cause as an equipment failure at a substation near Calabasas Lake, and there is no indication that the failure was related to the recent heat.

The area affected by the outage stretched from Victory Boulevard to the north, North Topanga Canyon Boulevard to the east, Los Virgenes to the south and the Topanga city boundary to the west.

Large outages such as this one are normally resolved quickly because crews will arrive on the scene and find the issue within minutes, Edison said.
