Public Workshop For Stormwater Project This Week

The Gates Canyon Park Stormwater Project features the construction of new drainage infrastructure to capture and treat stormwater.

CALABASAS, CA – On Thursday, March 15, the City of Calabasas will host a public workshop to discuss the Gates Canyon Park Stormwater Project which features the construction of new drainage infrastructure to capture and treat stormwater. The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, which is located at 27040 Malibu Hills Road.

The project will divert approximately 1,150,000 gallons of stormwater into a pre-treatment system before being conveyed to a cistern below Gates Canyon Park, according to the City of Calabasas press release. Water stored within the cistern will be further treated before being used to irrigate the park or pumped into infiltration wells, the press release said. With each new rain event, the cistern will be drained for groundwater recharge allowing for the capture and treatment of additional stormwater.

Community Benefits and Collaboration Opportunities:
  • Improve stormwater quality;
  • Expand water supply;
