Rain On The Way To SoCal Wednesday, Prompting Mudslide Fears

Forecasters predict that widespread rain will move into Southern California on Wednesday.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Forecasters predict that widespread rain will move into Southern California on Wednesday, creating a danger of mudslides in the burn area from the ongoing Woolsey Fire in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

A quarter-inch to 1 inch of rain was predicted for most areas, with the heaviest rain falling across the coastal slopes and foothills, according to the National Weather Service.

Rockslides and mudslides were considered likely in the Woolsey Fire area, especially Pacific Coast Highway from Point Mugu to Malibu and canyon roads.

The NWS also warned Sunday that the rain could cause significant travel delays on the day before Thanksgiving, which is already a busy travel day.
