Rapper Arrested For Alleged Possession Of Assault Weapons

The Instagram-famous rapper known as "Boonk Gang" was also allegedly in possession of illegal narcotics at his Calabasas home.

CALABASAS, CA – An Instagram-famous rapper arrested on suspicion of possessing assault weapons and illegal narcotics at his Calabasas home was free on bail Friday. John Robert Hill, a 21-year-old also known as "Boonk Gang" that has with more than 4 million Instagram followers, was arrested Wednesday at his home in the 3900 block of Ceanothus Place in Calabasas, Deputy Charles Moore of the Sheriff's Information Bureau said.

His arrest followed an investigation based on information received about a man who was in possession of narcotics and assault weapons, Moore said.

As a result of a search warrant at Hill's home, the rapper was arrested on suspicion of possessing medication without a prescription and possession of assault weapons. He was booked at the sheriff's Lost Hills/Malibu station and released the same day on $35,000 bail.

Since he was freed on bail, it was unclear when he will appear in court.

Hill's run-ins with authorities have included a May 7, 2017, burglary arrest at a Dunkin' Donuts in Miami for allegedly taking an entire tray of glazed donuts and a July 26 arrest at that same Dunkin' Donuts for burglary and petty theft.
