Scholarships Available for Engineering and Public Works Majors

High school students can earn $500 or $1,000 for college from a Ventura County group.

Local high school students who plan on pursuing an engineering or public works degree can apply for scholarships courtesy of the Ventura County Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

Students seeking the $500 and $1,000 scholarships must be a senior in high school graduating in the spring or summer of 2012 and attending college in the fall.

• Civil or Structural Engineering
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Traffic/Transportation Engineering
• Geology or Geotechnical Engineering
• Geographic Information Systems • Sanitary Engineering
• Environmental Sciences
• Public Administration
• Construction Management
• Architectural Sciences • Land Surveying
• Urban Planning
• Public Management
• Geography

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must live in either Agoura Hills, Camarillo, Calabasas, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Westlake Village or unincorporated Ventura County.

Applications are available on the Ventura County Chapter of the American Public Works Association's website and are due by April 20.
