STEVE ROSEMAN WINS LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTER'S DEBATE

Candidate highlights his experience and vision for Nov. 3 election

Steve Roseman, candidate for Calabasas City Council, exhibited a command of the issues facing Calabasas residents and clearly separated himself from his two challengers, both of whom have near identical positions, last night at the League of Women Voter’s City of Calabasas Forum. Throughout the debate, Roseman stressed the importance of adhering to the City’s General Plan when considering development projects – but most specifically as it relates to proposals to develop four hotels in Calabasas.

“Proposals to add up to four new hotels in our City demand heavy scrutiny to ensure compliance with the City’s General Plan,” said Steve Roseman. “Our City has a General Plan for a reason. It’s the blueprint by which the City manages future growth to ensure that Calabasas remains Calabasas. We must adhere to this important document when considering development projects. Period.”

Throughout the debate, Roseman highlighted his experience as a HOA attorney with considerable proficiency representing senior citizen communities, chair of the City’s Historic Preservation Commission, former president and current vice-president of Mont Calabasas HOA, and a father of three children who attend LVUSD schools.

Roseman also elaborated on his other campaign priorities during the debate. “My City Council agenda isn’t complex and it shouldn’t be controversial,” stated Roseman. “I’ll restore common sense leadership and balanced decision-making to the Calabasas City Council.”

Specific issues highlighted by Roseman include:

  • Protecting the Santa Monica Mountains, beginning with his support for Measure O, and by advancing policies that preserve the environment now and well into the future.

“I’m honored that Calabasas Mayor Pro Tem James Bozajian asked me to be a signatory for Measure O on this November’s ballot,” added Roseman.

  • Supporting Calabasas’ excellent public schools, beginning with Roseman’s backing of Measure E on the November ballot, and continuing with his support of the City’s ongoing public school funding, which is currently $1.15 million annually.
  • Preparing the community to better support its seniors who want to age in place by expanding senior-friendly accessibility to City infrastructure.

“The senior center is a good start,” commented Roseman. “But, we must do more to support residents aged 54-plus, the fastest growing segment of our community.”
