Truck Crash Leaves Drivers in Scorching Traffic Jam
A large truck crash on the 101 Freeway leaves motorists stranded in triple-digit heat.

A large truck crashed into the center divider on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Calabasas on Saturday, creating a giant traffic jam that sickened some motorists in the 106 degree heat, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The crash was reported at 2:31 p.m. on the 101 near Las Virgenes Road, according to the CHP.
The truck was traveling east when the driver lost control, went through the concrete median divider and came to stop, officers said. The truck driver was the only person to sustain injuries, NBC reports.

It was unclear if anyone was injured in the crash. A SigAlert was issued at 2:45 p.m. and was extended indefinitely about 10 minutes later.
Traffic was backed up five miles on the westbound freeway, and three miles on the eastbound side.
Some motorists called 911 to report they were getting sick in the heat.
To make matters worse, a minor crash was also reported on Mureau Road, a small frontage road that is the only other direct route that parallels the freeway through the hills in Calabasas.
