Vehicle Shot at on 101 Freeway

The driver escapes injury, but her car ends up damaged in the early morning shooting.

The car was between the Las Virgenes Road and Calabasas Road exits around 4:30 a.m. when the driver, a woman who was the only person in the vehicle, thought she heard one of her tires blow, said Lt. Todd Weber.

When she exited the freeway near the 24100 block of Calabasas Road, she noticed a bullet hole in her front passenger door, Weber said.

Responding deputies recovered what appeared to be an "expended bullet projectile from the passenger compartment of the car," a statement from the sheriff's station read.

The driver was not injured, Weber said. The shooting is under investigation, he added. There is no suspect information at this time.
