West Hills Hospital & Medical Center to Hold Breast Cancer “Power of Pink” Seminar

LA County hospital marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month with informational speaker series

The Women's Diagnostic Center at West Hills Hospital & Medical Center, an accredited, full-service acute care facility, is to host an educational seminar series, “The Power of Pink: Surviving Breast Cancer in 2016 & Beyond,” on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, from 6–8 p.m. This year’s event is to be held at the Woodland Hills Country Club, located at 21150 Dumetz Road, Woodland Hills, California.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for women in the U.S., and West Hills Hospital’s series is to cover a number of topics related to breast health, including the importance of early detection, advances in mammography, genetics, reconstructive surgery, and the latest treatment options.

A featured expert panel, accomplished in the areas of hematology/oncology, surgery, radiology and radiation oncology, will lead the series along with Cancer Support Community’s president and CEO, Bridget Karl, who will serve as the evening’s moderator. The “Power of Pink” seminar speakers who are specialized in oncology include Michael Benjamin, MD, FACP, Ashkan Lashkari, MD, FACP, and Omid Shaye. They are to be joined by Sumita Bhatla, MD, who has a focus on radiation oncology; Bruce Shragg, MD, whose emphasis is radiology; Brian Evan, MD, an expert in plastic surgery; and David Schreier, MD, FACS, who practices general surgery.
