2 Arrested, Suspected Of Campbell Attempted Car Theft

Two people suspected of trying to steal a car in Campbell last week were arrested on Sunday, police said Tuesday.

CAMPBELL - Two people suspected of trying to steal a car in Campbell last week were arrested on Sunday, police said Tuesday.

San Jose resident Yiselle Breceda and transient Leo Carbajal, 23, were arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft, grand theft and conspiracy, police said.

On May 4, the suspects allegedly entered one of three unlocked cars on Mitchell Court during the early morning hours and fled after many unsuccessful attempts to start the car, according to police.

The pair was caught on video surveillance entering two other unlocked cars and stealing property including paperwork, money and an iPhone, police said.

On Friday, police released the video footage to the public asking for help in identifying and capturing the suspects.

San Jose police arrested Breceda and Carbajal in an unrelated case and found they matched the description in the Campbell attempted theft, police said.

Follow-up investigation showed the suspects had clothes that matched the ones seen on the video and other evidence that connected them to the car break-ins, according to police.
