SAN JOSE, CA — A 47-year-old San Jose man who police accused of being responsible for dozens of burglaries over the past year was arrested in late June, police said Saturday.
Investigations by the San Jose Police Department and Santa Clara Police Department allegedly found evidence tying the same person to burglaries that were reported at more than 30 businesses around the Bay Area between early 2025 and June 2026, according to a statement from the San Jose Police Department.
The man accused of being responsible was identified as Jonathan Bynum. He was accused of using an electric scooter as a getaway vehicle after allegedly robbing businesses such as coffee shops and restaurants in San Jose, Santa Clara, and other cities.
A warrant was served at his San Jose residence by the San Jose Police Department in April. Police alleged in a statement that evidence of the robberies was found, but Bynum was not home.
Santa Clara police officers found Bynum in the city of San Jose on June 29 and arrested him. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
Anyone with information about the burglaries was asked to contact the San Jose Police Department at burglarytips@sanjoseca.gov or (408) 947-STOP.
