SAN JOSE, CA — A fire from a pickup truck crash spread to a water slide and a shed storing chemicals at CaliBunga Water Park in San Jose, firefighters said Saturday.

The fire, reported about 4:45 p.m., was contained to the northwest corner of the park, firefighters said on social media.

The storage shed was extensively damaged but no chemicals were released, according to the Fire Department.

The water park, formerly Raging Waters, on San Jose's east side has been temporarily closed for a redesign of Lake Cunningham Regional Park, city officials said in June.

Firefighters said the blaze began when a truck crashed into a fence and the flames spread to nearby vegetation. The San Jose Fire Department Arson Unit has been asked to investigate, officials said.
