$100K Storage Facility Burglary In South Bay Leads To 2 Arrests: Police

Police say the pair stole thousands of dollars in tools and may be connected to burglaries in multiple jurisdictions.

SAN JOSE, CA — Two San Jose residents have been charged in connection with a storage facility burglary in which about $100,000 worth of tools were stolen, police announced Monday.

The burglary occurred Sept. 18 at a storage facility on the 1300 block of Mabury Road. Police said a woman used an entry code belonging to a victim of previous mail theft to enter the facility. A second suspect followed her inside, damaged a vehicle door and burglarized a storage unit, police said.

The suspects fled with the tools, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Detectives with the department's Financial Crimes/Burglary Unit used automated license plate reader cameras and other investigative resources to identify the suspects as Brandi French, 25, and Emiliano Ontiveros, 40.

Investigators also connected the pair to several burglaries in other jurisdictions, police said.

Both suspects were already in custody on unrelated cases when detectives worked with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office to add charges related to the September burglary.

Ontiveros was arrested Oct. 8 in San Jose and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on an unrelated case. French was arrested Oct. 25 in San Jose and also booked on an unrelated case, police said.

Detectives recovered numerous stolen items after searching a storage unit associated with the suspects on Oct. 9. The car connected to the investigation had been located and impounded by Watsonville police before detectives searched it.
