Bay Area Teen Kidnapped, Sexually Assaulted On The Way To School

Officers used automatic license-plate-reading technology to locate the suspect's car, police said.

SAN JOSE, CA — Officers arrested a man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl on her way to school in San Jose Wednesday, police said.

San Jose Police Department officers said they received a report of a kidnapping and sexual battery from a San Jose high school on Wednesday morning.

The 15-year-old victim told police she was walking to school when the suspect pulled her into his car where he proceeded to sexually batter her. The victim then went to her local high school and reported the incident.

Detectives from the SJPD’s Sexual Assault Investigations Unit quickly responded. Using automatic license-plate-reading technology, police said they found the car reportedly used in the assault in south San Jose.

A suspect was taken into custody shortly thereafter, police said.

"The quick and coordinated response made the swift apprehension of the suspect possible. The victim has been offered resources and we remain committed to working around the clock to keep San Jose safe," police said.

Police have not identified the suspect in the case at this time.
