CACCC receives $10,000 SCAN Grant
Grant will support organization's Starting the Conversation: Advance Care Planning Initiative

San Jose CA, October 28, 2019 –The Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC) received a $10,000 SCAN Health Plan Community Giving Grant to fund its Starting the Conversation: Advance Care Planning (ACP) Initiative, targeting the Chinese American community. Based in Long Beach, California, SCAN Health Plan is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, and is dedicated to helping seniors manage their health and continue to control where and how they live. CACCC’s ACP initiative will make a positive impact and a difference in the lives of people in the Chinese American community.
CACCC’s mission is to build a community where Chinese Americans are able to face the end of life with dignity and respect. CACCC’s ACP programs address the health inequities of this underserved population by utilizing its innovative products, programs and services to engage the Chinese American community and collaborating with healthcare professionals, community leaders and partner organizations to achieve their goals while preserving the dignity and independence of older adults, caregivers and the family unit.
“Deciding what type of care one wants – or doesn’t want – and ensuring those decisions are carried out provides peace of mind for seniors and their families,” said Romilla Batra, MD, Chief Medical Officer for SCAN Health Plan. “We are very pleased to fund CACCC in their advance care planning initiative, which will have a direct impact on the lives of seniors in the Chinese American community.”
