“Art Outside the Box” is a public art beautification program designed to transform common traffic control utility boxes in Campbell, into distinctive works of art, creating a more vibrant, attractive cityscape. The program also celebrates local artists and their artwork, acts as a deterrent to graffiti, and involves Campbell residents in contributing to the beautification of the city.

Initiated by the Civic Improvement Commission in partnership with the Campbell Artists’ Guild, the program was launched in 2015 (Phase I), with eleven (11) boxes completed during the year. 2016's Phase II resulted in an additional nine (9) boxes completed.

Program costs are 100% funded through sponsorships and individual donations by residents, businesses, civic and other non-profit organizations. Volunteers include City commissioners and staff, Campbell Artists’ Guild members, Rotary members, and local residents who assist with prepping the boxes. The Campbell Home Depot donated supplies and employee volunteers to assist with preparations.
