Cockroaches Force Closure Of Eataly Restaurant In NorCal: Inspection Report

SAN JOSE, CA — A restaurant in the San Jose Eataly location was recently shut down by the Santa Clara County health department after cockroaches were found in the kitchen, according to an inspection report.

The inspection, conducted on Friday at Terra in the 2800 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard, found live and dead cockroaches on the wall above the hand-wash sink, the report from the Department of Environmental Health said, and the restaurant was ordered to close.

Terra had reopened for dinner service by Saturday afternoon after receiving sign-off following a reinspection, according to a representative for Eataly.

"We have addressed the concerns identified and completed a thorough remediation in coordination with the health department," Sarah Conboy, communications manager for Eataly North America, told SFGate, adding that the business remained “committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience for our guests and team, this has always been our top priority."
