County of Santa Clara to Unveil the CEDAW Women’s Bill of Rights
Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women to Elevate County's Commitment, Advocacy for Women
WHAT:
The County of Santa Clara Office of Women’s Policy and the Santa Clara County Commission on the Status of Women are hosting the unveiling the County of Santa Clara Women’s Bill of Rights, highlighting the County’s Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
The County is working toward a vital ordinance for the acquisition and protection of gender equity within Santa Clara County, not only in the workforce, but in all social, political, and cultural spheres. The unveiling will take place before the County of Santa Clara Annual Women’s Equality Luncheon Celebration.

WHY:
CEDAW: Women’s Bill of Rights demands a gender lens for decision making and will further address women’s safety from all forms of violence, as currently 44% of women in Santa Clara County have experienced some form of Domestic Violence in their lifetime, compared to 17% of men.
