'Mama Lisa' Felder Teams Up with Kinney Multisport to Create New Long-Distance Running Program
New Ultra Fitness Beyond Imagination Program takes runners to some of the most scenic locations in the San Francisco Bay Area

Popular San Francisco Bay Area running coach "Mama Lisa" Felder's personal experience and passion for long-distance running has led to a new partnership with Paul Kinney of Kinney Multisport to launch the new Ultra Fitness Beyond Imagination program.
Designed for experienced and inexperienced runners looking for trail running coaching and their next challenge, the Ultra Fitness Beyond Imagination program involves 4-10 months of training with three phases: base building, endurance building and distance.
According to Felder, most people respond to the idea of running trails stretching up to 100 miles and more is "why?" or possibly "how?" But for a select few, the challenge is intriguing. The question for some runners is "why not?"
As with any endurance sport, Felder's secret to preparing for on a 21K, 31K, 50M, 100 pulse-mile trail run is proper training. For her, the magic happens over a 4-10 month training period that builds up endurance; the regimen involves short runs, track, and cross fit training during the week; long runs on Saturday; followed with a "run on tired legs" Sunday run.
"It's not necessarily how fast or how far you go, but really the time you spend on your feet that prepares you for event day," says Coach Mama Lisa.
Felder, who has been running since the early 1980's, has finished nearly 300 marathons, Duathlon, Century Bike Rides, Hiked the Grand Canyon and completed 111 ultra-marathons.
She started her coaching career in 1996-98, for the San Francisco Fit team, helped implemented "Fit" first program in the Bay Area.
From 1998-2009, Felder coached the East Bay run team for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program.
In 2009, she launched the first ultra-team for Team in Training, which at the time was the largest endurance program in the world.
An incredible athlete in her own right, Felder decided to continue coaching an ultra-program in the Bay Area after successfully coaching the Team in Training ultra-team for four years.
Felder's new Ultra Fitness Beyond Imagination Program will take runners to some of the most scenic locations the Bay Area has to offer, including Marin's Tennessee Valley, Dipsea trails, Headlands, Mt. Diablo, Mission Peak, Huddart Park, Quicksilver trails, Oakland's Redwood Regional Park and Berkeley's Inspiration Point.
All those participating in the new program, whether they're preparing for a trail race or ultra-distance, will receive a monthly schedule specifically designed for their ability level, an online support forum, and more.
There are several events to choose from, including Quicksilver 50K/100k, Bishop High Sierra, 20M, 50K, 100K, Tahoe Rim, 50K/50M/100M, Headlands Marathon, 50M/100M, Golden Hills Marathon and Dick Collins 50M, Rio Del Lago 100M events or any race of your choice.
