It would make sense that Miles Schon would become a guitar player. As the son of one of America's most successful arena rock six stringer Neil Schon, Miles got to hang around world class musicians and travel in very important rock circles while honing his own skills that would make him stand out even if his father was an electronics repair guy.
The younger Schon is fronting his own band, a heavy dose of blues with more than a dash of good old Album Oriented Rocks mixed in. The Miles Schon band comes to the Club Milano on Friday October 25. If you are a fan of searing blues guitar this a must see. This young guitar slinger is doing it on more than just a famous last name. His playing is not like his Dad's, but more Jimi approach to soloing, with soaring high notes wailing followed by a burst of lightning fast runs down the neck of the guitar.

For Milano the show is a bit of a departure, but maybe a sign of things to come. Mike Beard of Man Down Production is booking the Milano, and to this point it has been a steady diet of local metal. Friday, cooler heads prevail as the space plays host to Blues and Rock. The club itself works very well for live music, for sure one of the most comfy clubs in downtown, let alone hosting metal and rock.

Two weeks ago Schon opened for his Dad's former band mate Gregg Rolie and the two of them ended up on stage at the end to jam on some rock classics. Sadly it did not appear to include any covers of early Journey's trip into acid rock like Of A Lifetime. However, there are also youtube videos of Miles and Neil on stage together, so who knows?
But if folks do come in the hope of catching a look at Miles' Dad in a small club, they might be impressed by the gifted young player and discover a new talent.
