Attention Smashing Pumpkins fans, music lovers, pumpkinheads and all of you lesser-known singer-songwriters out there: we have a fun assignment, I mean a contest, for you.

It’s high time for an official song to honor the celebrated Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival.

The Pumpkin Festival is entering an exciting new era with a well-earned reputation as “World Pumpkin Capital”, a huge, devoted fan base, a big sponsor (Safeway), and an authentic, beloved feel-good celebration of the great and almighty and magical gourd.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Write a great song about pumpkins, Half Moon Bay and the Pumpkin festival. Anything longer than three minutes will be disqualified.

2. Record it, and post it on YouTube.

3. Send the link to tim@miramarevents.com by Friday, October 2.

We’re still deciding how judging will be done and may even allow you to listen to and vote for them online, round by round – we’ll let you know.

In any case, we will have an esteemed panel of judges to pick the best song. Then, we will have our new Pumpkin Festival song, sure to be a classic, and our work is done. And our winner will get to perform the song LIVE on the main stage at this year’s Pumpkin Festival!
