Rock Bottom Restaurant In Pruneyard Not Expected To Fully Open For Weeks After Fire

But good news: "It does, however, look like we will be able to open on Wednesday for drinks and deli sandwiches with chips."

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A Campbell restaurant damaged in a two-alarm fire Thursday morning isn't expected to fully open for several weeks.

The blaze at Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery within The Pruneyard shopping center led to extensive damage in the kitchen area, general manager Nate Konsitzke said.

Konsitzke was inside the restaurant with seven cooks and three brewers when the fire broke out before opening to customers for the day.

The employees were able to safely evacuate before firefighters arrived, he said.

Crews were dispatched on a reported commercial structure fire at the restaurant located at 1875 Bascom Ave. shortly before 8:30 a.m., Santa Clara County fire spokesman Bill Murphy said.

The fire was under control about 90 minutes later and no injuries were reported, Murphy said.

It appeared one of the restaurant's gas hoses malfunctioned and ignited, sending flames through the building's ductwork and ceiling, according to Konsitzke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The restaurant doesn't expect to welcome back customers for several weeks because repairs can't be made until insurance investigators assess the damage, but Konsitzke hopes to open the bar by Wednesday.

"I regret to inform you that it is not looking like we will be able to reopen fully for a few weeks," the management said. "It does, however, look like we will be able to open on Wednesday for drinks and deli sandwiches with chips."

The restaurant is hoping to rely on its ties with the city and community as it works to rebuild the space, Konsitzke said.

Rock Bottom staff also added: "We appreciate all of the support we've received from the community and look forward to seeing you all again in the near future!"
