2 Children On Bike and Scooter Struck By Car In Downtown Morgan Hill On July 4th

Both transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

MORGAN HILL, CA -- Two children were struck by a vehicle in downtown Morgan Hill on Monday night, according to police.

Officers responded at 9:10 p.m. to the collision at Monterey Road and Fourth Street and found the juvenile victims, police said.

One of the victims was trapped under the vehicle and had to be extricated by first responders. Both children were taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center to be treated for their injuries and an update on their
condition was not immediately available this morning, according to police.

Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling north on Monterey Road and struck the children, who were crossing the road east in the crosswalk. One victim was riding his bicycle while the other was on a
scooter, police said.

Neither child had a helmet on at the time of the collision.

The female driver of the vehicle was not hurt. She stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators, who found no signs of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police.
