Vehicle Fire Appears To Be Cause Of Death For Driver

The vehicle caught fire after slamming into a tree in a median on Silver Creek Valley Road in San Jose, police said.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A vehicle fire early Sunday morning in San Jose appears to be the cause of death for the driver of the vehicle, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 2:55 a.m. to Silver Creek Valley Road and Farnsworth Drive on a report of a vehicle on fire.

When firefighters extinguished the blaze, officers found a body inside.

Police said it appears the vehicle hit a tree in the road's median and caught fire. The fatality is the city's 31st collision death this year.

The 30th collision death occurred earlier in the morning when a pedestrian was hit and killed in a collision with a vehicle.
