South Bay Cop, K-9 Unit Capture Prestigious Honor

A Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputy and his K-9 unit received a commendation from the United States Secret Service.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A South Bay cop and his K-9 unit were recently honored by the United States Secret Service.

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tanaka and ā€œYoshiā€ were honored for their service on a recent Bay Area security detail, the agency said on its Facebook page.

ā€œCongrats and great work to Deputy Tanaka and K9 Yoshi! ,ā€ the agency said.

Yoshi specializes in explosives and bomb detection, the Sheriff’s Office said in a 2019 Facebook post describing the start of her shift.

ā€œYoshi is currently assigned to our Valley Transportation Authority Patrol Division and loves belly rubs and tennis balls,ā€ the 2019 post said.
