Woman Shot Dead Along 1300 S. Bascom Ave. Tuesday Night

San Jose Police are investigating the killing, which does not appear to be a random act.

Police this morning are investigating the Tuesday night shooting death of a woman in San Jose.

Officers responded at 9:55 p.m. to the 1300 block of South Bascom Avenue in reference to a person shot and laying on the street and located a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim, a 33-year-old woman from the Sacramento area, was shot while she was in a vehicle, police said.

Her identity has not been released. The vehicle has been located and seized for evidence. Police said it appears the victim knew the suspect, and the shooting was not a random act.
