Aptos Village Measure J Workshops

From The County of Santa Cruz: The County of Santa Cruz is pleased to announce upcoming workshops for qualified buyers interested in purchasing one of 10 deed-restricted affordable homeownership units at the new Aptos Village project.

The 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom homes will be available to first-time homebuyers with household earnings at or below 120 percent of area median income. Prospective buyers are welcome to attend one of two bilingual workshops at the times and location below. Applications are due May 18, with a drawing to follow June 1.

Five Phase 1 units will be available during the initial drawing, including four 1-bedroom and one 2-bedroom units. Construction on Phase 2, which will include five more units, is not yet underway. The units are being provided through Measure J, Santa Cruz County's inclusionary housing program, which has provided more than 500 units of affordable housing since its passage in 1978.

Measure J pricing varies according to several factors that are still in flux, including interest rates and homeowner's dues. Subject to change, the estimated price of the Aptos Village Measure J homes are expected to be $256,000 to $280,000 for a 1-bedroom; $296,000 to $322,000 for a 2-bedroom; and $338,000 to $363,000 for a three-bedroom.
