Avalon Visions~You Know You Are Busy When ...

Well, I've figured out that I must be pretty busy. My desk just doesn't seem to clean itself. I seem to keep the front areas of the shop pretty well—I leave that to my wonderful employees, Jennifer and Ariel. But my office. That's another story.

I've heard it said that a clean desk is a sign of a sick mind. I disagree. I think a clean desk is a wonderful thing. It's a sign of organization. A clean desk allows a person to function and energy to flow freely. I really hope that today is the day that I get to see that clean white surface of my tiny office desk.

There was no real place to put an office in my shop, so the first owner sunk an office into a tiny walk-in closet.  So, here I sit, writing this blog, in my tiny little office.  (Anything to keep me from cleaning my desk.) 

I think that maybe, just maybe, it would be a better excuse if more customers just kept walking in. Then I could really say I just didn't have time to clean the desk again today. That was my excuse for the past couple of months. (The flood seemed to produce a flood of customers).

Last Friday, I really was going to finish clearing the pile of paperwork. I had my day all planned out. I drove up to park and saw five huge boxes in front of the shop. That's when I knew that I wasn't going to finish—again. My employee simply couldn't get the boxes inside. They were actually bigger than her. Go figure!   

So, instead of finishing all my paperwork, an ongoing process in a retail shop, I wound up moving boxes and building a gorgeous new card rack that replaced several old ones. Yes, of course, I did donate the old ones to a worthy cause. And there went Friday!

So now it is Tuesday and time for the task of paperwork! Maybe I should take a quick nap first—do you think anyone would notice?
