Mayor's Blog: Losing Local Lifeguards to Santa Cruz Contract?

Tonight we will be hearing a proposal for contracting our lifeguard services to the City of Santa Cruz. This has turned into a hot issue for the citizens of Capitola. What do you think?

I can see the advantage of the savings, but how about the issue of Capitola having its own lifeguard for many years, and we are proud of them?

I have been informed by those who researched the issue for the staff report that the Santa Cruz program will open its lifeguard qualifications to the current Capitola lifeguards so they could possibly still serve this year on our beach.
