The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said a man inside the home smoked marijuana and likely sparked the explosion.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team is investigating an explosion in a Soquel home Tuesday afternoon. Deputies said the man renting the home on Main Street likely sparked the explosion when he started smoking marijuana inside the house, which was being used as a space to illegally manufacture butane honey oil.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, and two others in the home suffered “significant injuries” during the explosion and were taken to nearby hospitals, authorities said.
