Capitola Man, 81, Dies In Crash

CAPITOLA, CA -- An 81-year-old Capitola man died in a crash this afternoon in unincorporated Santa Cruz County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Spark west on Soquel Drive near Stanley Avenue in Live Oak at 1:23 p.m. when he drifted into an oncoming traffic lane, drove onto a sidewalk and hit a utility pole, according to the CHP.

CHP officials said the cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office will release the man's name once his family has been notified of his death.
