Capitola New Leaf's Birthday Bash Raises $1,000 for Grind Out Hunger

On Sunday, October 19, Capitola New Leaf celebrated 21 years of sustaining our community with a party that benefited Grind Out Hunger.

October 19 was a perfect day for an outdoor birthday party. Some 200 people helped the Capitola New Leaf celebrate 21 years of sustaining the community. The skate ramps entertained the kids while adults enjoyed the beer garden, live music, the opportunity to win raffle prizes, and something delicious to eat.

New Leaf organized a smorgasbord of food and beverages for sale from two breweries, three wineries, four beverage companies and seven food vendors. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of food, drinks, raffle tickets and face was donated to local nonprofit Grind Out Hunger, a Santa Cruz based non-profit created through the vision of skateboarders helping kids overcome hunger and malnutrition.

About $1,000 was raised during the event. New Leaf raised about $700 from the sale of food and beverages, and Grind out Hunger raffled off skate ramps to raise another $300. That’s great teamwork!
