Cops Seize $42K Of Meth, Heroin, Coke, Pot At Traffic Stop In Scotts Valley, Home Search In Vacaville

Police also report firearms and cash were found during the search of the 41-year-old suspect's residence.

A traffic stop in Scotts Valley earlier this month led to the discovery of thousands of dollars worth of drugs, Santa Cruz police said Tuesday.

At about 10:30 a.m. on July 10, officers stopped a vehicle traveling on state Highway 17 in Scotts Valley, according to police. During the stop, officers found the driver to allegedly be in possession of 2.2 ounces of heroin, 1 ounce of methamphetamine and about 4 grams of cocaine, according to police.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Vacaville resident Gabriel Guzman, was also in possession of about $16,000 in cash, police said.

Following the discovery of narcotics, authorities served a search warrant at Guzman’s Vacaville residence, according to police.

During the search of the home, officers found 9.1 ounces of cocaine, 6.2 ounces of methamphetamine, 1.4 ounce of marijuana and 0.6 ounces of heroin. Officers also recovered firearms from the home, one of which had been reported stolen from Washington, according to police. Additionally, officers found $12,000 in cash.

The drugs seized during the traffic stop and during the search have a combined street value of approximately $42,000, police said.

Officers arrested Guzman on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale, possessing heroin for sale, transporting narcotics, transporting narcotics between counties, possessing methamphetamine for sale, transporting methamphetamine and transporting methamphetamine between counties, according to police.

The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team assisted Santa Cruz police during the investigation, police said.
