The Tannery World Dance and Cultural Center has partnered with the Santa Cruz Public Libraries to bring the experience of the Santa Cruz Ethnic Dance Festival to families throughout the county. Learn dance, music, history and culture from around the world with the Ethnic Dance Festival Artists! These free Festival Family Day Workshops take place on Saturdays beginning on August 29th and lead up to the main 2015 Ethnic Dance Festival happening September 19th and 20th. All Festival Family Day Workshops take place from 11:00am - 12:00pm

Explore the exciting rhythms and songs of Puerto Rico with Luna Rhythms. Join Ali Luna as he demonstrates the congas, barriles, maracas and more. Children can participate in call and response style singing, creating traditional drumming rhythms and learning the movements of Bomba.

Mexican Folkloric Dance for the whole family

Explore basic folklórico skills of calentamiento (body warm-ups), técnica (footwork), rhythmic patterns and vocabulary. Learn a fun choreography, and a piece of regional history and culture- all through music and dance.

Hawaiian Style
Music and Dance with Leolani Lowry

Grab your grass skirts, kick off your shoes and be prepared to have some fun! Leolani of the Hula School of Santa Cruz will be sharing songs and dances of Hawaii for kids of all ages. Learn a few Hawaiian songs and basic hand and feet movements. There will also be a demonstration of the different instruments used in hula. Join us and experience the lore of the Hawaiian culture.

This free public family event offers a full day of performances from amazing local and Bay Area artists on Saturday September 19th, plus a full day of free workshops on Sunday September 20th.
