Dominican Hospital: No Injuries from Gas Leak
No one was hurt as a result of the break in a gas main on Tuesday.

Aside from sitting in traffic for hours on end, no one suffered any ill effects of Tuesday's that evacuated the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Santa Cruz.
According to a prepared statement by Jill Jones of Dominican Hospital, the facility was awaiting a potential "influx of emergency patients," but by 3:30 p.m., when roads started to reopen, no one had shown up for treatment as a direct result of exposure to the natural gas.
The hospital was used by more than a dozen children who were evacuated from LifeSpring Preschool on Soquel and 7th Avenues. They were taken to the Education Center at Dominican at 1:45 p.m. and were picked up by 3:15 p.m.

Central Fire Inspector Mike DeMars said that the leak was caused by construction crews at 2250 Soquel Avenue. A backhoe damaged a six-inch natural gas pipe causing mass road closures and isolated evacuations. Partnered with heavy traffic from the , the gas leak made for a hectic commute throughout much of Tuesday.
