Duo Nabbed for Heroin and Switchblade Possession

A routine traffic stopped became much more interesting late Friday night.

The Capitola Mall was a popular place to be arrested over the weekend. On top of Yogesh Patel, , a man and woman were also taken into custody on drugs charges.

At 11:30 p.m. Friday night, Officer Chris Johnson made a routine vehicle stop in the mall parking lot on 41st Avenue. He noticed the smell of drugs coming from the car, and according to a prepared statment by the Capitola PD, he conducted a search on the vehicle.

His perusal turned up six grams of heroin, oxycontin pills, drug paraphernalia and switchblade nives.

The driver, 31-year-old Chad Slone from Santa Cruz and Sarle Yancy, 22, of Watsonville, were arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on possession charges.
