Russell Brutsche, Nancy Cassidy, and Michael Gaither In-the-Round at the The Ugly Mug

An intimate evening with three local songwriters sharing their songs and the stories behind them. $10 cover.
More detail on the artists:
Russell Brutsche is a Santa Cruz artist who loves socio-cultural ironies, often painting painfully apt juxtapositions exposing social injustices. As a singer-songwriter some of this carries over into his lyrics. He crafts tales that are paradoxical and sometimes whimsical sketches addressing our values, excesses and transformations.
Nancy Cassidy, a very successful songwriter and performer for children, is also a fine songwriter in the folk/Americana style for those aged 13 to 103. One of seven siblings from a California valley dairy farm, and once a river guide, Nancy now lives in Palo Alto, with her two children and husband, performing concerts both solo and with a band.
Michael Gaither, from Watsonville, takes the "write what you know" idea to heart, wrapping songs around small-town life and everyday stuff with a keen eye for detail and gentle humor. Tracks from his just released, "Starlite Drive-In Saturday Night" can be heard on KPIG radio.
