TURKEY TUESDAY AT MID-COUNTY SENIOR CENTER

When/Where: Mid-County Senior Center, 829 Bay Ave., Capitola, Tuesday (yes, this Tuesday, the week before Thanksgiving), 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: If you’re a nearby senior, you can have an early Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings at the senior center in Capitola. Just be sure to arrive early—no later than 5 p.m. if you don't want to be in back of the line.

ACOUSTIC MUSIC AT NEW LEAF’S NEW BEET CAFÉ

Why Go: It’s free musical entertainment, that’s why! This week, Doris Williams and Rick Duncan will perform acoustic music on the lute, guitar, ukelele and tin whistle Their performance will feature some Renaissance and Celtic hits from Doris’ CDs, originals written by Doris and Rick, and a few popular cover tunes, like Knights in White Satin. You can stop by for a few minutes or for the whole set.

MEET CAPITOLA AUTHOR DONNA RANKIN LOVE

Where/When: Capitola Book Café, 1475 41st Ave., Capitola, Thursday, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Donna Rankin Love has just published Walking for Our Lives, her third memoir in the four years since she turned 80. When she was 58, she began walking 5,000 miles for peace, and in her book, she writes about her passion as a peacemaker and her involvement in the Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament. Her mantra remains: “Anything in life is possible; one person can make a difference.”

Pricing: Free (Her book will be on sale for $25.)

CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH HOLLY DAY BAZAAR

Where/When: Congregational Church of Soquel, 4951 Soquel Dr., Soquel, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Whether you’re feeling it yet or not, the holidays are here, and this is event will get you in the spirit. You can buy raid Granny’s Pantry for baked goods and buy hand-crafted gifts, tree trimmings and collectibles. And lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pricing: Event is free; lunch is a suggested donation of $7.

CABRILLO CHORALE AUTUMN CONCERT: HOW SWEET THE SOUND

Where/When: Cabrillo Music Recital Hall, 6500 Soquel Dr., Aptos, Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Support Cabrillo College’s music majors—and enjoy an evening of choral music. Music will include master works, men’s and women’s choirs, music from around the world and selections from all genres.
