Heading South On Hwy 101? Check Traffic Updates

A big-rig fire had lanes blocked this Thursday morning in King City.

A big-rig fire off U.S. Highway 101 in King City this morning has closed southbound lanes of the highway, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Around 9:45 a.m., the big-rig was traveling south on U.S. Highway 101 near Canal Street, where the driver lost control of vehicle, CHP Officer Oscar Loza said. The big-rig carrying plastic bins went off the road, landed on its side and caught on fire, Loza said.

The driver was not injured in the crash, according to Loza. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, he said. Cars on southbound Highway 101 are being diverted onto Broadway Street, Loza said.
