JUST IN: Hwy 1 Closed In Both Directions

State Highway 1 is closed in both directions this morning after a gravel truck overturned near Carmel Highlands in Monterey County, according to California Highway Patrol and Caltrans officials.

The crash was reported at 7:41 a.m. on Highway 1 near Peter Pan Road and has shut down the highway in both directions, a CHP dispatcher said. Caltrans officials said the crash involved a loaded gravel truck that overturned. According to the CHP, some diesel fuel may have spilled from the truck into a nearby storm drain.

There is no estimate immediately available for when the highway will reopen, according to the CHP.
