Land of Medicine Buddha Cabin Destroyed During Fire
BREAKING: Fire crews said the cabin was not occupied at the time of the fire.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A fire destroyed a small cabin located on the Land of Medicine Buddha property in Soquel on Friday morning, fire officials said. The blaze was reported to the Central Fire District just after 8:30 a.m. A resident staff member discovered and reported the fire in the unoccupied cabin.
“Access to the fire scene was made difficult by narrow unpaved roads leading to it,” fire officials said in a statement. “Recent rainfall had also made the roads muddy and slippery for vehicle traffic. Fortunately firefighters were able to navigate the roads with Type 3, wildland fire engines.”
Downed power lines briefly impeded the firefighting efforts. Fire officials said the recent rains helped prevent the fire from spreading to the woods surrounding the cabin.
